Tapper Trouble - HibeesBounce.com

My tapper is knackered on my front door(uPVC).It flaps in the wind and i have to sellotape the bugger down.I dont know the technical term for a tapper but im needing a new one.

Sounds silly but i dont wanna fork out for a new door when its just a wee part of it thats knacked.

Any help/suggestions?

Yep but its all connected to the door(hard to explain)it's in a housing of certain dimensions so i cant just go to B&Q and get a new tapper.

I have the exact same problem Mr Beefster.

My solution is to jam a towel throw the fecker to stop the banging. Or get drunk & play loud music as you sleep the sleep of the lord and let the neighbours worry about it.

The thing is the tapper is in a housing screwed right through the door.Do i have to buy a whole tapper unit that hopefully fits where the screwholes are.............feck me! what a boring topic im spraffin about

Go with the superglue option opined by that dear chap from wick Mr C.T.Bam, but and heres the twist, buy one of these cheap battery operated bells from B&Q and all good department stores [in the interest of fairness] and stick that on your door.

As for the doorbell it is one o they cheapo efforts that takes 4 batteries(plus a wee tiny yin)and it only has enough strength to go Bing Bong

Aah, I didnt realise it was a tapper/letterbox combo sorry dude. I need to rethink.

Got it..simply follow the stages as outlined by myself and CTB and borrow your next door neighbours jigsaw and cut a new mail slot in your door. And dont go for the cheap doorbell, buy one about £9.99 its worth the extra expense.

Lateral thinking...wheres that beer we mentioned earlier.
