The Sun & Liverpool

This has been debated before, but I'm sure I just heard the radio reporting that The Sun are offering a reward for information in relation to the recent shooting of the 11 year old in Liverpool.

Given their history with that particular city, is this a bit distasteful? Or are they really aiming for reconciliation? Or am I reading too much into it?

Bottom line Im afraid is more sales in the Liverpool area - sorry to be cynical but this is my opinion.

They will hope to recoup at least the same in prob about 1 days sales - today

Since the suns reporting of the hillsborough disaster the paper is hated in liverpool,newsagents would not sell it,people would not buy it and news international lost a lot of money regarding sales and advertising revenue something like over £10 million,over the years they have forced newsagents to stock it saying if they refuse they cannot sell other news international titles,so these days it is on sale in liverpool but very few people buy it,as for the reward money i am afraid its a cynical attempt to increase sales in the merseyside area, sad but true.

The Sun are a bunch of sick inconsiderate arseholes who even with this attempt would struggle to sell the last paper on the shelf if its the sun in Liverpool.

Obviously guilty for twisting the hillsborough incident in such a way that it was down right DISGRACEFUL!!!

I wish newspapers would stay out of this sort of thing and leave the police to sort it out. There must be quite a few people around who will invent information in the hope of getting some cash and so lead the authorities off the scent on a merry dance. Nothing more than sick and cynical marketing. Hope the people of Merseyside see this for what it is.

Yes they can be a bit daft some times but Scousers know how to hold a grudge they do not forgive those who have shamed or slammed their community and they will not buy this excuse of a paper. Does not matter if they are reds or blues - they despise The Sun, Rupert Murdoch and all that they stand for.

The Sun does not give a shit about a dead 11 year old, Liverpool or its teams or its people - it's interested in increasing its sales and revenue. Its publicity stunt fake tears for the wee lad who was shot will be seen by the people of Liverpool as exactly that.
