top films thread

this thread just came to me after watching the classic 'gregory's girl'. i'd really recommend it to anyone, great story of love in 1980's scotland. some very sharp dialogue and great cinematography. other then that I'd really recommend the documentary 'the take'. Basically it looks at how workers collectives in argentina took over abandoned factories a few years back and have continued production making them profitable again- interesting look at social initiatives in the developing world and at the effects of international monetary policy by major international organisations.

any reccomendations?

As you seem to like love stories then I'd heartilly recommend "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" with Jim Carrey/Kate Winslett. One of the most intelligent, original films I've seen.

My old house is in Gregory's Girl. I've seen the film countless times. Its a classic, even with the wooden acting.

If you enjoyed Gregory's girl you'll like the prequel with almost the same cast and in my opinion, more "laugh out loud" moments in it. Seem to remember it was caled "That sinking feeling" about a group of Glasgow youths trying to steal some stainless steel sinks.... give it a chance it's pretty funny.
