Huge missed opportunity and it fails me why we would rather play friendlies against the likes of Livingston rather than play games against teams who if we beat them grant us entry into the UEFA cup. There was/is no downside.

Just imagine if we had been in this position a meaningful game against a Spaish side.

We should have been there.

It's regional so we would have ended up playing someone from Northern Europe rather than Athletico Madrid.

I personally reckon we could and probably should have entered the Intertoto but I can see the reasons for not doing so. A proper pre-season with no games of any importance means you can build up fitness, get a proper structure for building up to the start of the season, and have a look at a few players and be generally experimental.

As I say I think we should have entered anyway, but I can understand the reasons for not doing so.

Besides. We'll be in the Champions League the season after this coming one so why spoil the anticipation with an intertoto entry this year
