I don't understand the Di birthday gig

WTF is going on ? The woman has been dead for a decade, why is there all this gushing and fawning over the dead blonde, how beautiful she was, her "sense of style" etc ?

Re: I don't understand the Di birthday gig

I watched about 5 minutes of it and scanned the crowd. One thought enetered my mind : Insanity. Really, where do they find them?! Probably £60+ for tickets for chrissakes! Are they really human beings or some sort of fukt up clones? I was admittedly hungover but I just shook my head in amazement. I imagined an Attenborough talk-over, "And here we have the insane of the species. Devoid of thought but miracuously happy. Watch as they smile at insipidity. You've got to marvel at the simplicity of them. And to think they're in danger of extinction! To save them phone the WWF fund I've started....."

Re: I don't understand the Di birthday gig

The epitome of many cringe-inducing moments for me was P-Diddy's performance. Extolling the crowd to 'tell her we love her' and how much we miss her continually. Completely over the top and cloying.

I could feel my toes curling in embarrassement.

I agree with Burbs at the top, why still this constant need to portray her as something special. She was a pretty ordinary individual in an extraordinary position through marriage.

She had crap taste in music too...

Another excruciating few minutes. When Ricky Gervais was clearly uncomfortable about filling in a few minutes of space at the end of his set. Really surprised at this. "How long to go?" "How long to go?"

Re: I don't understand the Di birthday gig

The whole idea of this gig was totally ridiculous. Her two sons have spent the last 10 years telling everyone in England to move on, and then they endorse this overblown nonsense we saw tonight.

Thought Elton was good tho'..Tiny Dancer is a crackin 'song, definately his best. It's no easy to sing at a karaoke either ah kin tell ye..!

When's the alternative concert to celebrate her death?

Sooner we are shot of the Royal Family, the better. Vive la republique.

I've got no time whatsoever for the royal family, but that's a bit rough. She wasn't exactly Adolf Eichmann.

Re: I don't understand the Di birthday gig

Glad I didn't see this. From what I've heard about it, along with a couple of short clips, it sounds like a total embarrassment. But one look at the line-up should have told anybody that. Just goes to prove that fools and their money are easily parted. On second thoughts... Tom Jones doing the Arctic Monkeys? That might have been worth the admission money alone in terms of its comedy potential, no?

Re: I don't understand the Di birthday gig

Stu, Colr - Couldn't agree more with you boys.....or anyone else that has a pop at the concert.

Most cringeworthy moment for me was some daft blonde bint (Fearne Cotton probably) asking other daft bint from Black Eyed Peas, "how did Diana affect your life"?

Oh. My. Phucking. God.

Are you winding me up? Is someone actually yabbering this in your ear?

Do you not realise what you're saying? Can you not refuse to be a part of it?

How did she influence anyones (apart from gingers and future kings obviously) life that was at that concert?

What's with the outpouring grief for someone that's been deid for yonks?

Why have a concert for a dead persons 46th birthday?

Who really gives a phuck?

Bunch of bloody hypocrites if you ask me - She wouldn't be dead if you didn't buy the papers & the magazines the paparazzi flooged their pictures too.

She was a nothing member of a royal family that does nothing for me.

The sooner the rest of them kark it in a French tunnel, the better.

Let's not forget that as a young lad, she ruined my Sunday morning re-run of MOTD....I'm still bitter about that.....

Not that you could tell

I know she aimed to do a lot of good in the world. But i just don agree with someone who has died gets more publicity over someone you knew and loved..when they have either had a tougher or achieved more in life.

Why televise it? There are better events with fewer washed up acts.

Couldn't be unfairly using their influence, could they?
