I think the UNI have withdrawn the honorary degree. And Mugabe booted a lot of the white farmers off the land to give to blacks who have no idea how to farm. But hey, it's better than whitey having the land.

Total rubbish - Mugabe is universally loathed in any analysis I read in what might pass as leftish in this place. Zimbabwe is a classic example of what can happen if you sow allow the seeds to be sown. You think UDI had nothing to do with creating the conditions for this? I don't subscribe to the view that the west is to blame for everything, but sometimes we should take a little responsibility. And yes, it was a Labour government that didn't deal adequately with UDI in the first place.

No they haven't. They've fucked every sector of the economy by mismanagement, partly because of and partly leading to the flight of capital, and by complete clientilism.

Mugabe is a thug. To keep power he has promised armed militias land for their support.

The Left supported the Nazis in the 1930s. It took ordinary working class people to stand up to Mosley - the so called liberal intellectuals of the left were nowhere to be seen.
