After the stories of occasional instances of anti-English racial abuse here in Scotland, I wonder if the same papers will be covering this on their front pages:

I'd expect it to get worse over the next while. Ever since Holyrood re-opened and Alec Salmond was installed as First Minister there's been a distinct whiff of anti-Scottish feeling in the English press. I think it was OK for us to have a parliament with devolved powers just so long as we didn't use it to do anything independently or differently from Westminster.

Now some folks may be getting worried that they might lose their last colony.....

Disgusting, yes. But the kids could easily have got grief from a handful of young chavs because they were from the next villlage or for any number of reasons.

If the story was about a bunch of kids having a pop at a bunch of kids from a different school then it wouldn't make the big papers.

TBH, I don't think the kids responsible were taking any kind of specific stand against Scotland or the Scottish - they were probably just out to have a go at a group of youngsters who are 'different'.

I don't think incidents such as this should be overplayed,particularly by the media: how could they think that a bunch of kids who don't even understand about history and national identity bullying (hardly a new concept) a bunch of other kids tells us much on a national scale. We've had that in NI - in parts of Belfast, it used to be that every time a kid was shoved by a bairn of a different religion we'd end up with a fecking Holy Cross standoff - and it just creates more and more grief in the long run.

It wont be overplayed by the media. That would only happen if it had been Scottish kids taking a pop at English ones. Then it would be front page news on The Sun and The Daily Mail and we would have been told that it was being fuelled by "extreme Scottish nationalism".

Pretty sure it wouldn't happen down here. Folk in Cumbria are pretty benighted in my experience. It was probebly justa twist in their usual bullying rather than anything political.

We have a local pipe band here in North London.

From my experience having done the trqansition from both directions, there was miles more anti-English sentiment in Scotland and hardly any anti-Scottish sentiment in England and it was FAR worse in West Central Scotland than Edinburgh. Maybe they should add that into the anti-bigotry initiatives in the nurseries.

Only my experience but not speculation. I don't think it has anything to do the the SNP at all.
