Has it been formatted, you might need to bring up the Admin Tools, bring up disk management and it should be around there mate

Re: Hard Drive Help Needed

is this the only HD in the PC or is there another? if it's the only one i think the jumper should be set to master. but it's been ages since i done any thing like this.

what type of drive is it - it's probably best googling for manafacturers specific advice on settings if it's available - did no instructions come with it?

Reboot and when starting up you get a prompt to press F2 (usually maybe another F key on your PC) for settings

this takes you to the bios menu - go through the menu to find the section on drives and see what is mentioned.

Re: Hard Drive Help Needed

If you are using a usb hub or case ports try plugging the caddy directley into one of the ports on the motherboard.

Re: Hard Drive Help Needed

when you said you got an internal drive, I assumed that it was connected as an internal drive, not knowing what a caddy was - but if your connected by USB then its an external device which won't be logged under the BIOS primary/slave drives.

In that case I don't follow what you were doing here

"I tried that after googling it , i think set as slave it didnt show . The jumper is now on the 2 pins at the right hand side. The drive i took out had no jumpers" maybe something to do with the 'caddy system'

G'nite Darren - I'm off for a kip as I'm up for work in 6 hours - if you still have a problem in the morning I'll ask the IT guy at work and hopefully he will be able to help

In that case you need to format it, easiest way(and that's a contradiction in terms) is to use the Disk Management tool which is in Admin Tools. It's actually fairly easy to get onto your start menu, if you need talked through it give me a bell.
