Re: Cars

Any idea on what size of car you want? or what sort?

I am in and out of garages all day some have cars for sale i can have a look to see who has what. only thing is it could be anywhere between the Gyle and Whitburn.

A good thing to do when trying to decide on a car is get insurance quotes for all the cars you like and see if you still like that car after you get a quote. Search autotrader to get full details of the car, some leave registration numbers showing this makes it easier.

Edit: people always laugh at me but i love the wee smart cars and can pick them up for about the money you have, dunno what they are like with a few miles on them though.

Re: Cars

Are you happy with the Polo? I would just get a newer model of polo. I am a fan of VAG cars though so a bit biased maybe. Have been considering buying a nice 20 year old MK2 golf GTI 16v with a folder full of history including original bill of sale for the car if mrs roorky passes her driving test ( well for me really but she can use whatever one im not )

Guy at work picked up an X reg Polo for his wife from the auctions at kinross last night for £1750 and the book price for it is £3000 i think he said.

The auction at Ingliston is on a tuesday night. Only thing wrong with auction is you rarely come away with what you wanted when you went in. My advice for at auctions is look out for the guys who might be dealers and see how much interest they show in a car as its waiting in line, then if you do decide to bid on one be willing to outbid a dealer but try not to get into a bidding war with someone buying private, the dealer needs to make a profit so even if you outbid him you will still get a bargain. The private buyer is just wanting a bit of a bargain and will be willing to bid higher.

I have seen a Volvo V40 going for £1000 and being put on the forecourt at £2500

But will still keep my eye out for something anyway.

My other half has driven Polos for something like ten years and they're pretty bullet-proof

Re: Cars

Well she passed her test.

Took her out today in the coupe and i was bricking it. She almost crashed it at the burger king at South Queensferry

Have been discussing what we are going to get for her and she likes the Merc A class and the Audi A2, reckon i can pick either up for as little as £2000 so we are now trying to decide how much she wants to spend. I have however suggested we get her a wee cheap runabout for the first few months until she is a lot more confident/capable on the roads. Have also suggested a Polo and i had her looking at a MK1 VW Golf Cabriolet that she quite like the look of .

Benji I have been looking out but not really seen anything i would recommend.
