sorry to say this dude, but the yam you quote in your sig is correct. we were invited to participate in the european cup, we did not qualify.

there again, the yams got in without being champions which comes to much the same thing - we were invited as 'one of the best teams in scotland' and that's the basis for their qualification an all.

Neither did they. Hibs weren't in the UEFA Cup this season because we were beat in a preliminary competition, how's that different from getting papped out before the tournament starts?

First ever European Cup had teams from Scotland, France, Spain, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Austria, Italy, and Germany East & West. Just to put that into perspective every single European team who has had a winner of the EC has came from one of these countries apart from England. Hibs got to the semi final. Hearts entered the preliminary rounds along with representatives from Malta, the Faroe Islands, Cyprus, Andorra, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. They got put out before the tournament started.
