Scott McDonald

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ll/6495029.stm

Quote:
Celtic are set to beat Rangers to the signature of Motherwell striker Scott McDonald, BBC Sport understands.
Talks with Celtic are at an advanced stage in a deal that would see the 23-year-old Australia international transferred for £750,000 in the summer.

But other clubs are believed to be interested in the striker.

McDonald, who has more than a year left of his Well contract, was the subject of a failed £400,000 bid from Rangers on January's transfer deadline day.

But agent Lou Sticca is optimistic McDonald will sign an agreement with another club shortly.

"There is interest in Scott from a number of clubs, but I wouldn't wish to confirm which clubs at this moment in time," Sticca told the Daily Record.

"However, it is correct to say that discussions are at a fairly advanced stage and something could be sorted out sooner rather than later.

"I have been in constant contact with Motherwell and they are fully aware of where the interest is coming from."

McDonald admitted to Celtic sympathies in 2005, when his two goals for Motherwell against Celtic denied the Glasgow club the Scottish title and handed it to city rivals Rangers.

Now the player, who was on international duty for Australia on Saturday, appearing as a substitute in a 2-0 win over China, could be poised to join the club he supported as a boy.

The departure of McDonald could lead to a player exodus from Motherwell, with midfielder Brian Kerr warning earlier this month that he could be the first to follow.

He had said that they could not afford to lose McDonald if it wanted to improve its standing in the Scottish Premier League.
Yet another striker to Celtic? How many strikers celtic have now?
Our poor old friend Deeko aint going to get a game now!

Also notice that he was a supporter of celtic when he was a boy. The guy moved over from Australia in 2003 for crying out loud...

The tactic is not to make sure that they have enough strikers but to make sure nobody else has any.

Hope they buy him some tweezers as a leaving gift.

To be fair that's not completely far fetched!

With the amount of ex-pats and the football coverage in the Southern Hemisphere coupled with the fact that the standard of Australasian football used to be much poorer it's quite easy to find Supporters of British Clubs in that neck of the Woods. In fact one of my mates in Auckland claims to support Celtic, another has been shown the light and is now a Hibby!

Celtic have a very successful global brand (the Hun do not). It is important to target these markets.

I met a Celtic Scout in Dubai Airport at the start of the Month.

He'd been looking at players, one in Australia, one in Thailand and one in Cambodia!!!

That trully is global!

The OF are like two lazy fat bloated blimps, glued to their sofas, eating everything in the fridge, emptying the cupboards, and then phoning up for a giant pizza just in case they get hungry during the night. The next day they're still lying there, rancid-breathed, unwashed, and stinking. While slavering over the cheese-filled crusts.
