some luvvery speculation on .net about the size of the yams debt

rumours are it's now between 35 and 40m.

could be just greggs talk, but it wouldn't surprise me. can't see that they will have in anyway eroded the debt that pre-dates the jam tsar, and that squad of players (how many are there - it's over 50 now i think) must be racking it up given some of the salaries they're on.

if they are at or over 35m i think that sounds like an irretreivable position.

They could sell Tynecastle 10% over market value and still be in more debt than us..

I'm no accountant (edit:as you will see in a minute) but they can't be £35 million yet, I don't think. When Vlad took over, their debt was around £21m. At that time they were paying £4.5 million in wages and made a loss of £2.7 million in the year (04/05). Their wages have undoubtedly increased and their turnover may have increased too (though not by nearly as much). Unfortunately, as we have no idea how much, it's all guesswork from here but even if their wage bill has doubled to £9 million (they now have 59 players, many on big salaries) that makes an extra 9 million debt plus 2 x £2.7m (presumably they keep making the losses they were pre-Romanov), add on the increased revenue say £3million over two years and the money they got for Skacel (£1.5 m?), that's £9.9 million extra debt by the end of this financial year. Of course that all depends on what sort of wages they are paying and how much is being paid by Kaunas as well as a zillion other factors that we and the Jamboids have no idea about yet.

Wow!!! You might not be far off!!!

59 players seems an awful lot. That must include all the way down to under 14s or something. They can't possibly have 59 players in their squad, can they ?

They have about 29 "first team" players. It's not as if a lot of those players are young laddies on cheap contracts. Indeed, it has been rumoured that some of the laddies recently signed up are on £5K per week!

I think their wage bill has gone up far more than 100%. The squad is at least 50% bigger, and they are paying each of them about three times as much (eg Gordon £12Kpw). £40M debt now might not be so daft. We won't know unless Vlad tells everyone, and even then he might mask Hearts losses with payments from UBIG.

Re: some luvvery speculation on .net about the size of the yams debt

Had actually been going to ask if anyone was into accountancy and worked figures out. There are several factors. On the plus side romanov allegedly said last year he paid off 2m of the debt at a certain time. They have also increased merchandise sales and upped the gate money though not as much as some might think as theres a lot of season tickets thus less at the gate each week. Sponsorship has probably been quite good as well.

The negatives are the size of sqaud, with Gordon allegedly on 18k and Tall on 10k a week, thats 28k from gate money right away each week so how much when everyone is counted? They have all the usual stuff, police/stewards etc. The backroom staff is also getting bigger with doctors, healers, coaches etc Difficult to say if their sacked managers sued for wages lost. Romanov has also took the players on holiday and uses jets to fly people here there and everywhere, though maybe thats out his personal money. But the interest on their debt must be phenomonal unless of course romanov has got them interest free loan.....unlikely. Im assuming Vlad will also pay his 10k fine out his own pocket!

I also think they should be fined or made to pay interest on the money they still owe for Brellier.

I would think at least that, just didnt want to guess the rest, Im sure Pressley will be on at least that much as well so theres minimum 48k for 4 players. So thats 2,400 punters at £20 each just for these 4. Consider though the amount of concessions being bought and its not so easy to balance the books. Also did I mention usual business stuff like Insurance, employee stamps, electric, phone bills to lithuania, transport, groundsmen, blah blah

You've forgotten the pay offs to former managers, the way the Yams are going through them it must be about 2m a year easy

Not forgetting the interest accruing on the debt. Could be another million plus per year?

Re: some luvvery speculation on .net about the size of the yams debt

Hartley, Tall, Pressley, and Fyssas are all supposed to be on c£10k pw. Gordon if you include bonuses is on c£18k pw. That is £58k a week, which multiplied over the year is just over £3m. I would hazard a guess that £3m is pretty close to the total they bring in with STs. Which is spent on 5 players

Obviously they have other sources of income beyond STs but money from walk up gates must be pretty shite, and unless they are bringing in absolute fortunes in sponsorship (which doesn't seem realistic to me) they must be losing an absolute barrowload of cash each week. No doubt some guntonomics professor will be able to correct me though
