I'm going! Elbow are pretty sound and all i know of the hazeyjanes is that they are also from Dundee. Think they sound a bit Fratelli-esque.

I'm going. Got a free ticket and I'm getting paid to be there. After hearing the latest album that sounds about right.

Radiohead were on before 8.30pm apparently and Muse were just after 9, so I'd guess some time about the same for Snow Patrol....

can get food and bevvy in there though so no harm in going along earlier .....

I read on a ticket website that they'd be on about 8, but maybe they'll be "rock 'n' roll" and make us wait a while too. I'll be going ridiculously early, to enjoy the nice weather while it lasts

Let me know how they are? They're my current 'interested' band.

Cheers, Mark.

I had a blast

Thought they were really good. Liked the 1st support band, not so much the 2nd ("Elbow").

Snow Patrol were good, great atmosphere, shame it rained all afternoon though.

Yeah, it was at Meadowbank.

Ok then...the vocals on all songs Snow Patrol played were absolutely excellent, and the quality didn't suffer from being in a live environment. They played a lot of new songs, with most of the set, infact almost all of it, being drawn from the two most recent albums, Final Straw and Eyes Open. They have a lot of songs which are suited to big, outdoor, festival-like gigs, such as Run, Spitting Games, Chocolate, Chasing Cars, and How To Be Dead, all of which were played, and delivered brilliantly. They played An Olive Grove Facing The Sea from the When It's All Over, We Still Have To Clear Up album, which was a very nice change, as it wasn't something everyone in the crowd knew, with it being taken from one of their less popular albums.

The musicianship on show seemed to me to be near album-quality, and they were pretty much note perfect, as far as I could tell, though there seemed to be a slight issue with one of the guitarists, as he was first too loud, then too quiet, before getting it sorted. A criticism I'd put forward would be the length of the set they played, but it was pretty standard for modern bands,to be absolutely fair. They picked their songs well, and played what the crowd wanted to hear in the main. I'd recommend going to a Snow Patrol gig if you can, as they're basically just "feel good" experiences. Apparently they're "coming back soon", not sure if that means to Edinburgh or Scotland though. As far as albums go, I'd recommend Final Straw as a definite, and the two earlier ones aswell, if you can pick them up. They're called Songs For Polar Bears and When It's All Over, We Still Have To Clear Up. The latest album is good too, but it seems to have been written with the intention of producing lighter-waving anthemic tracks, which are great in a live setting, but there are only so many of them that you can take on the one CD.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, just ask, and I'll see what I can do

Feck me, give us a bit of detail will ya?

What an absolutely FANTASTIC post, and considering the time of night you wrote it, makes it even better.

I have their last and current album, but will take your advice and seek out their previous contributions.

Oh, and thanks.

Re: Snowpatrol

Right well IMO I thought they were truly shocking

and i never even went

They "nearly" spoiled my night as LOTHIAN fooking buses were running 50mins late and sod waiting on a bus for that long..

I don't get taxi's as I grudge the prices of them, they always go wrong way etc and charge mega beer/vodka token money so that ruled that out

Anyways had it not been for a nice lass I was with they would have
