Used to be a toon fan in my younger days, then they went and sold Andy Cole to Man Ure for £7m. Thought that was a gash decision and realised that they weren't going to win anything without him. So started supporting Spurs for their attractive football. Sir Jurgen was in his prime at the time

Strange move by Duff i think how could Newcastle outbid Tottenham, and surprised that he wanted to go there as Newcastle are not exactly doing anything amazing at the moment are they, while Tottenham are and improving team.

Maybe just because Newcastle can offer more money and better wages

I'd think Tottenham could offer alot more, as they are one of the big London clubs and have a far superior squad than Newcastle.

Klinsman is a genius. Fantastic player.

Agree with that, St James' is a pretty tremendous stadium. Pointless fact time: From the further away seat at the very back in the corner of the huge stand is a quarter of a mile from the centre spot!

Spurs haven't exactly splashed the cash in recent years, but they haven't had too. Developed youth players like Sol Judas Campbell, and Aaron Lennon, plus shrewed signings like Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas have proved fruitful. They have also had their fingers burnt on big money signings like Rebrov and Richards. Plus they can offer wages to match pretty much anyone. They offered £80k a week to Judas Campbell before the Arsehole offered him a ridiculous £100k (what a waste of money

). Logically Spurs weren't going to spend that much for him.

Spurs average 36k, in a 36k stadium.

One the cash front, they've only just forked out £10m for Berbatov.

Though i wouldn't say that Newcastle have been more successful than Spurs. FA Cup finalist in '98 and '99 and an Inter-toto final in 2001 is about all they've had for many a year. Spurs won the league cup in '99, and they've been a fair few finals recentely too. League final places I'll grant have been slightly more favourable to the Toon, (final league place of 12, 9 10, 14, 9, and 5 for Spurs since 2001, against 11, 4, 3, 5, 14, 7 for Newcastle). Still, Newcastle didn't just miss out on CL though. Surely that's got to be more of an atractive proposition?
