Father 4 Justice v Eamonn Holmes

Whatever one thinks of their cause, these guys have produced some pretty dramatic and eye-catching methods of protest thus far:

Lottery show delayed by protest

A protester

Father 4 Justice said the stunt marked
the "dramatic return" of the group

The Lotto protest

The BBC's National Lottery show was briefly delayed on Saturday evening after protesters invaded the studio and chanted slogans. Presenter Eamonn Holmes was led from the stage as Fathers 4 Justice members made their way on to the set. The National Lottery: Jet Set was delayed for several minutes before the draw for the £17m jackpot was resumed.

Campaign group Fathers 4 Justice said the evening marked the "dramatic return" of the protest group. The group appeared to have disbanded in January after some of its members were accused of allegedly plotting to kidnap Prime Minister Tony Blair's youngest son, Leo.

"You've a lot of very shaken, disturbed people, both watching at home and in the studio" - Eamonn Holmes

Guy Harrison, a spokesman for the paternal rights group, said it was the group's duty to warn parents about family law. Mr Harrison added: "The lottery is a metaphor for what can happen to any parent, mother or father, and their children, at the hands of the secret family courts."

Afterwards presenter Holmes said it had been a "scary moment".

'Kerfuffle'

Alan Dedicoat, the so-called voice of the National Lottery balls, told the BBC: "We just had a kerfuffle. What appeared to be fireworks or something going off in the studio. "The s moved to one side. Eamonn was pushed to one side at one stage I think." He added: "And the next minute we had to put a caption up and I was left talking to millions and millions of viewers trying to explain what was going on without necessarily being able to see all of it myself."

Later, Holmes said the protesters had been "well-orchestrated". He said: "About six protesters ran out of the audience, very well positioned, very well orchestrated, they knew exactly the positions to be in and they tried to, well, I think, destroy the lottery machines. "Fathers 4 Justice was the campaign and, you know, I think for the audience a very scary moment, whatever empathy or sympathy many people may have with Fathers 4 Justice, again, you've a lot of very shaken, disturbed people, both watching at home and in the studio."

I don't know the facts but if i was denied access to my kids and was left frustrated by the goverments lethargy in sorting the problem, i would most likely join them, as long as it remained a non violent protest. They actually show up severe security problems in our society. I suppose the other side of the coin is they get so caught up in their cause and take it a stage to far, someone is severely hurt or killed. What would you do if you were a father denied access to your kids.

'I'd have stopped my son killing'

Tony Thomas, whose son killed schoolgirl Mary-Ann Leneghan, blames absent fathers for the rise in such violent crimes

Gaby Hinsliff , political editor
Sunday May 21, 2006
The Observer

Given that his son is behind bars for one of the most shocking murders of recent times, Tony Thomas may seem an unlikely champion for fathers' rights. But when he walked into a meeting of the divorced men's pressure group Families Need Fathers last week, Thomas entered a bigger debate about not just modern parenthood but black parenthood as well.
He believes if he had been able to be a proper father to his son, Adrian, Thomas would not have become a drug dealer now sentenced to life for his part in the torture, rape and killing of the schoolgirl Mary-Ann Leneghan. He is urging other absent fathers to persevere at forging relationships with their children, particularly those living in the inner cities.

Gives pause for thought on the role of fathers.

Re: Father 4 Justice v Eamonn Holmes

That was a really intresting read, a lot of us can probably relate to this.

Adrian's mother, of course, may see it differently, but Thomas insists he never abandoned his son. 'I never had a dad, so I know what it feels like to watch your mates with their dads and feel maybe jealous. Do you think I really would have wanted my kids to have that?'

To make things in the thread a little bit lighter - it highlighted that the button they press to "start the lottery" does absolutely nothing!! They knocked the podium thing over when they stormed on stage and it was obviously not connected to anything!

this is a very deep question for a sunday, but probably join the fathers for justice group, why is it that we are told it takes two to tango, and your children are 50% you and 50% your partner or wife, and you have to by law pay maintenance for the up keep of your children, but you have no rights of contact, visiting rights etc, that would drive any father nuts ,if the relationship has broken down with the partner/wife it doesnt break down with your children!!! and as for eamon(i will make sure there is a question about man ushited in my quiz every week)holmes what a brave man hiding behind a wee girl ,twat that he is

Yer man Eamonn displays a quick one-two shuffle out of the way whilst 'Deadly' keeps talking manfully on.

Holmes was looking rather sheepish to say the least!
