The Arctic Monkeys version of a Girls Aloud song was mentioned in Confession Time thread as being pretty good. What's your favourite cover version that shouldn't work but does?

For me Teenage Fanclub - Like a Virgin springs to mind as does the version of Public Enemy's Louder than a Bomb by someone I can't remember (Curve or someone - female vocal).

If you want quality covers, there's only one band.... Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine!

Will never forget being in Camden with my ex and her mum when ex's mum starts tapping her foot to this cheesy sounding song... her face when she heard the words "I wanna fcuk you like an animal" being crooned to what sounds like a casio keyboard covering Nine Inch Nails's Closer was absolutely priceless!!!

And when you cover a certain Nirvana song and introduce it with "This one's for the ladies....."

A band called The Vaginal Croutons did a cover of "The Littlest Hobo" theme tune in a punk style which was superb. IIRC it was given away free with the old Meadowbank fanzine AWOL. Most obscure (and the funniest) song I've ever heard.

Have to add 'Come on feel the Noise' by Oasis, having recently purchased the 'There and Then' DVD it's hairs on the back of your neck stuff and a much better cover than 'My Generation' for them to wrap up a show with.

There cover of 'I Am the Walrus' alongside the Bootleg Beetles on the same DVD is probably the best version of that song I have heard.
