Its not really the fact he irratates its the fact he talks constant pish. When ITV had The Premiership you could bet that every sentence Townsend said the opposite would actually be the case. Also, who is a journeyman like Townsend to say that a pass from Lampard was shocking or Rooney should have done better with a shot?

Townsend was a bit more than a journeyman. Not the most talented footballer of all time, but pretty useful. However, I don't think much to his 'expert summary', and the way he now someimes stands behind a little table on the edge of the pitch with 'Coisty' - who most of the time just seems to be on cliche autopilot - really gets my goat.

Andy Gray just infuriates me. The way he invests everything with incredible false significance. Annoying.

Lawrenson seems to just use the word outstanding all the time, and his manner is bizarre - so camp, yet so confrontational. Someone I know met him though, and said he's nothing like that really. he just hams it up for the telly.

I don't mind Andy Gray. He's still a Scot, and so is Alan Hansen, even though they both may have forgotten about it, they can still rub salt into an England wound. Just the other week when Mandy was co-commentating on a Liverpool game, it was mentioned that Gerrard had played 40 games so far though the season, and that there was potential for a whole lot more with the world cup, to which Gray responded alongs the lines of 'I hope not'.

Hansen too, when they got put out the last world cup had seens of Wright and Lawro up dancing and cheering in the studio when Engurland went 1-0 up, but similar scenes when Ronaldiniho lobbed Seaman with the winner. He was staunchly arguing that it wasn't a fluke too.

Plus they know more about the game than Andy :wa**ker:

sorry to say, but andy gray may be a scot by birth but he loves the english, saw him on sky 1 doing a show about "englands 100 greatest goals" !!!!!! what the ? anyway, he nipps ma heed he does, him and aw his technology pish ......
