Great Hibby, joined the army (Royal Scots) same day as me. There were no other jobs at the time.

24 hr cooling off period (I bottled it, he didn`t)

Anyhow, shot by a sniper either 12-17th June 1992. Co. Armagh

Last saw him at the Anderlecht game..........Dunbar end, had a pint, a laugh, he died 3 weeks later-ish.

Is buried (Deliberatley) within shouting distance of ER.

He lived right opposite the Ferry Boat.

About time he was remembered.

Remember us both being on Scotsport highlights with scarves around head and wrist. "Fcukin` hell, we`re on the telly" was the cry, in the auld Coo-shed.

HI Mate

I searved with Lawrence and was good mates with him and his brother George. I have never met anyone who has every had a bad thing to say about the man.

He was a true gent and loved by many. He will always be missed, I was with him a couple of days before he died playing darts in the canteen in Crossmaglen S,Armagh and remember the affect his death had on a lot of the lads. It guess the reason so many were affected was because he always had time for people and especially anyone that wanted to talk about the hibs. He would always look after the younger lads and even though he was popular he always had time for the new guys, his brother George was the same.

The day that Lawrence died, his brother George who was searving with me in B company Crossmaglen at the time, came into the NAAFI (Canteen) and said to us all, that we where to treat him (George) no differently, not to avoid him or act mournfully when he was around he said we where to concentrate and do our jobs and get home safely as that what Lawrence would have wanted.
The room was full of youngs lads like myself at the the time and I can assure everyone that it helped in us re-focusing on the job we had to do.

Lawrence RIP mate as long as there is a Royal that served with you alive, you will never be forgotten and always be loved.
