this scenario perfectly demonstrates the almost medieval superstition that underpins the abortion law.
if there's a bag of skin surrounding a baby and you can't see it, you can kill it, but as soon as you can see it, you can't. iirc the law is such a muddle over this that a doctor who presides over an abortion which a baby survives can technically be charged with murder.
what does everybody think should happen here by the way?
if the baby survives the mother can (and it has been done) sue the hospital. presumably the baby if it grows to adulthood could then sue every fecker in sight, both for failing to kill it and for trying to.
