Re: Luton
All clubs (Hibs included) have lived beyond their means in the past.
In fact, if any club in the past was seen to be living within their means they were thought of as lacking in ambition. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
What is interesting in the case of Luton is how many times they've come back from the brink.
The question has to be asked in this modern era if it is possible for a smaller provinical club with a limited stadium size can possibly compete at the highest level any more.
In order to be sucessful you need money to pay the exorbitant players salaries. Which means you need a large fan base and a stadium in which to accomodate them.
In reality someone like Sir John Harvey-Jones (RIP) would have looked at a club of that size and told them to cut their cloth accordingly. Only pay what you can afford in salaries and if that means you end up in the 3rd, 4th or 5th tier of English football, live with it! Harsh but true.
