Great performance from the Grunningers against an in-form Feyenoord, go on the Farmers

Feyenoord stranded on the rocks again at Groningen. Ron Jans' team got the reward for their never-say-die approach at the Euroborg stadium (3-2).
The game was exciting for almost all of the 90 minutes. Within one minute of the kick-off, Groningen had already had three chances, one of which was a rocket from Erik Nevland which hit the post.
Despite the home team's furious start, it was Feyenoord who took the lead. Roy Makaay showed in the eleventh minute just what he is capable of as he went past two men and shot home immaculately.
For a long time, Groningen just couldn't match Makaay's mastery as they tried everything but just couldn't get the ball in the net. Early in the second half, it looked like Makaay was about to sink Groningen for good. His trickery got him into two excellent scoring positions but on both occasions his efforts just went past the post.
Substitute Marcus Berg initiated the Groningen revival. The first time the Swede touched the ball, he scored immediately. Berg was smarter and stronger than Kevin Hofland and hoisted the ball over Henk Timmer into the net.
His goal was the start of a spectacular last 15 minutes; five minutes in, Groningen took the lead for the first time in the match. This time it was Nevland who beat his opponent and slid the ball past Timmer with the outside of his right foot.
Once again, the crowd hardly had time to draw breath: with some good luck, Nuri Sahin ended up with the ball at his feet and shot low to make it 2-2, barely a minute after Nevland's goal. In injury time, the game swung in Groningen's favour.
Berg easily deceived Brazilian André Bahia and blasted the ball hard and high in at the near post. The star substitute saw to it that Groningen beat Feyenoord for the third time in a row in Eredivisie matches.
Feyenoord also missed out on a chance to go first equal in the league and now have Ajax and PSV above them, by three and two points more respectively. Groningen now have the top half of the table in their sights.
