Webster And Hearts Wait For Court Ruling
Nov 16 2007 By Alan Marshall
HEARTS and Andy Webster face an anxious wait after the Court of Arbitration for Sport delayed making a ruling over the player's switch to Wigan.
The complex case was heard in mid-October and a decision was expected within three weeks.
However, CAS admit it will now be next month before anything is announced.
A spokesperson said: "Nothing has been decided on the Webster case and nothing will before the end of the month."
Webster joined Wigan in 2006, using Article 17 of FIFA's regulations which states players three years into a four-year contract can move to a club in another country.
FIFA, however, adjudged that the 25-year-old broke his contract "without just cause" and ordered Wigan and the player, who is currently on loan to Rangers, to pay Hearts £625,000 compensation.
Hearts are demanding over £4million while Webster is contesting the amount FIFA demanded he pay.
Meanwhile, Hearts have struck a deal with Woolworths that will see the highstreet retailer become an official distributor of the club's merchandise.
Hearts commercial director Ali Russell said: "We're absolutely delighted to announce this new partnership with Woolworths."
