Poppy Day is about remembering the dead and their bravery. It isn't about remembering, or even approving of, a war or the reasons behind it - it is about individual soldiers. You don't have to agree with any policy, military leader or government to remember the rank and file.
That aside, if you think that getting Hilter out of Poland wasn't worth five years of my grandfather's life (he was a volunteer) in a POW camp then you must know something that I don't.

If you listen to commentators & read the press they bang on about how these lads gave thier lives for their country & freedom etc..but according to ex soldiers i know they say they fought for their mates alongside them. When they were getting shot/bombed etc they didnt think about the bigger picture.thats what i was getting at.
Hilter was indeed removed from Poland but he was replaced by an equally evil man in Stalin. Poland was the only country to fight on the winning side and still manage to lose.(and also the only country to be banned from the victory parade)
