They let Killen leave without having a ready replacement hence the on going search for a big striker.

Collins did not want Killen to leave.
The board offered him a decent contract for a player who had scored 14 goals,
but had chronic injury problems. A one year deal was not enough for Killen so he pissed them around for few months and deliberately ran down his contract. We are now toiling to replace him, but this should have been taken care of months ago and quite frankly for a club of Hibs size and current wealth to be still pissing around with trialists for this position is a bloody disgrace. If Hibs fail to sign the big striker they need by the end of the transfer window, then questions will rightly be asked about our scouting methods and wage structure which is clearly not competitive enough to attract a proper replacement for last years top goalscorer.
