You're saying that rates are rising but the increase in rooms is not to satisfy demand?

More rooms mean more competition and thus cheaper rates for the customer. And if I was your GM, I would be saying that good customer service=increase in profit.

With the growing market, more rooms will be needed otherwise prices will rise.
More rooms do not necessarily mean cheaper rates, we are on the verge of adding 30 rooms to ours and I can guarantee we won't be lowering our rates. We are budgeted by our head office on our room rate and amount of rooms sold. Of course it is to satisfy demand, Edinburgh is and always will be a popular place to visit. Of course good customer service means increase in profit but not many GM's see it that way as a few of them are PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT. (not mine of course I want my pay rise this year
