This guy described himself on Five Live yesterday as brought up atheist protestant...

Religion is not something i've got huge interest in tbh but he was making some strong claims on radio...
the hitchens are barmy - if also fantastically erudite. christopher the atheist who writes the hatchet job on mother t, and peter the christian who does likewise with the (secular saint) nelson mandela.

you have to wonder where all the animus comes from. to me they're a perfect demonstration that there is a 'fanatic' psyche, and the form it takes - religious, political, secular or whatever, is just the channel for that.

that said, i find CH far more engaging than dawkins and was considering his new book, but it got panned in a review i read on sunday (in the tory graph if anyone wants to look it up), which highlighted errors so profound that it suggests that he has a poor grasp on the subject he's writing about.

i suspect he has a general antipathy to religion, but hasn't studied the subject and had to do a rush job on that so he could write a polemic.

tbh - and i'm not being sarcastic; i doubt hitchens or dawkins for that matter, are much superior in their argument to some of the bounce atheist massive. so i figure why bother read them when you can engage with fellas on here.
