We need to look at the wage structure seriously anyway imo. We will continue to lose players and go through this situation for eternity until we change it.

Think of the current squad, then add Riordan, O'Connor, Murray (assuming he was fit obviously) and Andersson to it. All of those players left Hibs to some extent or other over wages. If the top wage at ER was £4k a week (which imo is well possible) rather than under £2k as it is presently, we would have a better squad, and to a far greater extent be able to actually knock back bids without players becoming pissed off about it since they would be losing fortunes. We would still lose players, but hopefully that would be for footballing reasons rather than financial ones.

Of course you're still going to have players who will leave for trebling or quadrupling their wages even with a higher maximum wage at ER, but it would be a lot easier to keep those who want to stay as I believe that all of the players mentioned above would have done.

As an aside, if the club want to bum up our finances as being "rock solid" they should maybe think of what that actually means.
