How can rugby and gaelic football in Ireland hope to compare with an atmosphere like that.

For passion, it never will, no matter what the media will try to tell us. Take Croker this Saturday for example, it will be packed to capacity with over 82,000 there for the Dublin v Tyrone game. The Dublin fans really make me laugh, they are the original gloryhunting sunshine fans, the vast majority of whom wouldn't even know where Parnell Pk is (where Dublin play their league games). When Dublin are playing in league games in January and February, there's usually only a couple of thousand at these games. But with the sun is out, plenty of media exposure etc, sure it's the popular thing to dust down the sky blue jersey, and as a Dublin 'diehard', head to Hill 16 to become part of the "most passionate" fans in Ireland. Oh, how I want to puke! Dublin are the most obvious example, every other county in Ireland are similar, though obviously wouldn't have the numbers. Yes, there are a few genuine fans, but GAA fans are the ultimate example of gloryhunters. If they win, they'll have a few beers and if they lose, ah sure, it was only a game, lets have a few pints anyway. How can anyone say "It's only a game" about
their sport!? It's only a game? My bol*ox it is. I've gone a few days without eating in the past after defeats, not to mention, not talking to ANYONE for days either.
GAA is a great sport, a great spectacle, but don't anyone tell me the fans are more passionate than soccer/football supporters.
And don't even get me going about the fcuking Premiership barstooler brigade that's everywhere (quite often the very same Dublin GAA fan :-D ) who tell you, in the boozer, that "we" won/lost etc when referring to the likes of Man Utd/Wigan/Arsenal etc
Rant over. Phew, glad I got that off my chest
