Street names are important. Thats why Scotland's biggest cities have premier streets like Princes Street, George Square and Union Street. Its just crude 18th Century Brit propaganda to let Scots of the time know they were 'British' in the aftermath of Culloden. Same reasons for the existence of so many statues of British muppets on Scottish streets. I mean William Pitt on Edinburgh's George Street? Queen Victoria in the Kirkgate?? The Duke of Wellington ootside Burger King?!? The Duke of friggin Sutherland in the Highlands???? Time for some JCBs to do their Saddam-esque best.
