Fan Interview #2 – newryhiby
Q – How long have you been following Hibs and what was your first game? (If you can remember)
I’ve been following Hibs since I was born, it’s a family tradition and thank god for it. Can’t remember my first game but one of my first memories are being on my dads shoulders at Tynecastle and Hibs scoring and winning. I Think that’s when it hit home how good it made people feel when we beat the Yams. Also found a fortune in coins cause everyone was going mental the cash was falling out their pockets.
Q – What are your most memorable moments as a Hibernian fan? Good and Bad.
When we won the cup in 1991 must be the finest. I was only 11 at the time I think but I couldn’t believe how many Hibees were there. We never had a ticket as it was pay at the gate at some sections but there was a lock out so a few of the adults decided next time a steward opens the gate to rush it. It worked and we got in but a police man grabbed me till my old man grabbed him and tuned him in! We enjoyed the game and after at Easter Road. I remember crying my eyes out with joy, happy days. The worst was seeing us relegated.
Q – Since you have been following Hibs, what would your best eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?
In no particular order or formation.
Goram – was a great keeper, loved Leighton too.
Sauzée – the boy was class to watch. Well worth the admission fee any day.
Latapy – a wee bit magic which a hibs team should always have.
Weir – loved his trickery.
Michael O’neil – always exciting when he was down the wing.
Wright – loved this man for his goal against Rangers
Super Tortolano – he tried his best for hibs like all players should.
Deeks – like his passion when we are winning and he hates Hertz.
Sproule – love the wee mans determination and is a gentleman to boot and he scored 3 against the Huns.
Mixu – for obvious reasons.
Boozy – class on the ball hopefully see him back one day.

Q – What would you say is the best goal you have seen a Hibs player score?
Wrights in the semi.
Q – Best and worst away ground visited?
Best would have to be don’t know why but I always love going to McDiarmid Park always seemed a good wee stadium. The worst would be love street absolutely hated going here it was a pure s**thole.
Q – Which player(s) would you like to see us sign (realistically)?
I’d like to see us sign Boozy back, I think we lacked a bit in midfield last season. A wee left back from Man City Ryan McGivern, he’s got international experience with Northern Ireland and I think he would flourish with us. We would get him on a loan. I think.
Q – All seater stadia. Good thing or a bad thing?
Very very bad thing. Grand for safety but it has taken the atmosphere right out the terracing we should look to bring it back imagine doing the Hibees Bounce In a full east terrace again when we are hammering Hearts pure class.
Q – What are your thoughts on how the Hibees did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?
Very poor. We should be getting into Europe most seasons in my opinion we are a big enough team. I think last season we were tactically immature and the use of subs was dire.
Q – What are your expectations for next season in the Scottish Premier League?
I’d be expecting to be in the top 5 maybe higher depending on new signing still to come in we need a good central defender and GK but with Zouma in midfield getting a regular game we can do something.
Q – What League position will we occupy at the end of the 2009/10 season?
Hopefully third. I cant see anyong splitting the Old Firm this season but maybe in the next few years. They are not the force they once were as we and a few others have proven if you attack them they are there for the beating. If you sit back they will walk all over you.
Q – What’s your opinion of the new Hibs manager John ‘Yogi’ Hughes?
I’m happy about it if he brings the passion he had as a player. Id hate to go into the changing room after losing anyway.
Q – Where do you sit in the Leith San Siro?
Whenever im home I’ll head to the East Terracing for the atmosphere but normally I sit at my pc listening to radio Scotland or watching the game online.
Q – And finally. If there was one member of the Bounce you could team up with to manage Hibs, who would it be and why?
I’d team up with Owen, Daddy ‘O’ Hibee and Power (Tattooed hibee). Owen likes the young fast and exciting player, whereas Daddy ‘O’ is shit hot with the tactical side and Power is just pure Hibs mental. We’d need him for the stats.

- This is the first time I met Tortolano who I thought was the best player and I still admire him for playing for the strip with all his heart.

- This is a picture of me and my wee brother Owen in 1991. I had to leave school early as we were able to get our pics taken with the cup. I think Owen knew then he’d be a happy Hibee forever just look at that cheesy grin. Still look back on these with a wee tear of joy in my eye. GGTTH!
